Passports / ID’s

Although much of our work is bi-cultural and we continuously work with ministry partners on the Mexican side, all of our border trips take place on the U.S. side of the border. You will not need a U.S. passport unless we have come to a mutual agreement that crossing the border into Mexico will enhance your trip experience.

If you are traveling northbound, about 70 miles from Mcallen, Texas you will pass through the Falfurrias, Texas Checkpoint. This is a border patrol checkpoint and it is advised that all U.S. citizens have a state issued ID on them and students have a school ID or a copy of their birth certificate if they don’t have a state ID.

Personal Plans

Individuals planning personal travel in conjunction with a Border Perspective trip are responsible for coordination and payment regarding all travel plans (airfare & ground itinerary) for the personal portion of the trip. In addition; any expenses, travel delays, or other unexpected occurrences that arise during a personal portion of a trip are not the responsibility of Border Perspective.

Insurance

Individuals participating in Border Perspective trips must have medical insurance that provides adequate coverage while they are traveling. Participants should review the provisions of their own policy and contact their insurer to determine whether or not they should obtain additional personal coverage for the duration of the trip. Uncovered expenses that are incurred by trip participants due to accident or illness – including medical costs, airline change fees, and medical evacuation – are the responsibility of the participant, not Border Perspective. Border Perspective does not provide trip cancellation or other travel insurance coverage. Travelers should decide for themselves if they wish to obtain such coverage.

Medications

Participants shall notify Border Perspective of medical conditions and prescriptions that they are taking to ensure the availability of that information in case of a medical emergency.
