Catalyzed For Change

Please check back on September 1st to explore summer opportunities for 2019.

Border Perspective internships allow a deeper glimpse into a life of ministry. Think God may be calling you to missions? Gain confidence in how Christ has designed you to serve. Demystify and de-romanticize missions so that you can succeed in long-term ministry. Our internship can help provide direction and bring clarity. Border Perspective is looking for interns in the following areas that are ready to work hard, who are passionate about making a positive change in the world, and ready to learn and grow with us. You will be involved in ministry connecting with local churches, and seeing God's Kingdom transform communities all along the U.S./Mexico border.

  • Real ministry: Participation in strategic kingdom changing work, not meaningless tasks

  • Discipleship: Personal investment and mentoring by local team and ministry partners

  • Hospitality:  Warmly welcomed and well taken-care-of in a wide variety of ways

  • Partnership:  Meaningful interactions with the local church and ministry partners

What about fundraising & expenses?

How much will I need to raise to serve as an intern?
For our traditional summer internship (from late May – mid August), a total budget can range from $3,500 - $5,000, depending on your internship.

What on-field expenses are typically included in an internship budget?
Ministry-related housing, food, and transportation costs are included in your ministry budget. These costs are carefully determined by our local partners. Once you are approved and invited to serve with us, we will go over these details with you.

When do I have to have the funds raised?
Once you are approved and invited to serve with our ministry, a budget will be provided to you. 100% of your budget support is required one month before you depart for the field.

What if I don't raise 100% of the funds?
If you are unable to raise 100% of the support in time for your set departure date, we will either revisit your departure date, look at other ministry options, or prayerfully decide the best next steps.

Can I get internship credit at my school through this program?

In many cases yes. However, it is your responsibility to share with us the requirements to meet certain criteria and to get this info in writing from your school. You will need to assume responsibility for driving this process of meeting all requirements in order to get school credit.

Where will I serve and live?

Where will I live?
You will be living with local host families. This is something determined by our team and varies according to your internship.

What are the requirements for an internship?

Age requirement
You must be 18 or older to serve with Border Perspective as a volunteer intern.

Most internship do not require language proficiency, but some level of Spanish is beneficial.

Vaccination requirements
Required immunizations include a tetanus booster within the past 10 years and all routine immunizations (dT-diphtheria, tetanus; MMR-measles, mumps, rubella; and polio). Beyond that, we will be in contact about specific immunizations once you are on board.

Insurance Requirements
All internship participants are required to have a traditional medical insurance policy which will cover them for the entirety of their internship. If the insurance policy does not cover international travel, you will need to purchase a supplemental medical insurance policy for their dates of service.

Do you have internships available year round?

Yes. If you'd like to serve outside of the traditional summer months, we’d love to help you. We have ministry opportunities that  take place at anytime during the year. *Please note your dates of availability when you apply.

Internships should transform your life.
